The weapon known as the kanabo was a club weapon used in Japan and there are other weapons like it such as the nyoibo, konsaibo, tetsubo, and ararebo. But for now I will focus on the kananbo. Kanabo weapons came in all shapes and sizes with the largest being as tall as a man and a two-handed weapon while the smaller ones were primarily one-handed and the length of a forearm. The shape could be a baseball bat with a thick heavy end lessening towards a slender handle or they could be straight all the way from the handle to the end, with the shaft being round or multi faceted. These weapons could be made of either heavy wood, or simply iron. They could also have iron spikes or studs on one end, but some had the studs covering almost the entire club except for the handle. The kanabo was also a weapon widely used in mythology by the Oni since they were very strong and could swing the things about with ease. In reality though, these weapons were often used to smash enemies armor, break bones, or break the legs of a warhorse. These weapons were often very heavy and required both balance and strength to keep from failing. These weapons also are usually hard to recover from if one misses with them. However, if they hit....it hurt....a lot...
