Let's see how long this lasts. | Tue Oct 06, 2015 10:29 am by Misuke | Hey all!
Been a while since I bothered posting here, since there was absolutely nothing I could do to revive the game from the state in which it was left. That has since changed, and I now have access to the means to better the game, and bring it to the state in which it was originally meant to be played.
I do hope regulars and newbies alike welcome the changes I plan to bring, and continue to …

Ikou Era Apology | Fri Nov 25, 2011 3:59 am by AllSmiles | Hello, faithful Ikou Era players. I am sorry for being so inactive to the production of Ikou Era, me slowing down with updates had affected all of us. I doubt, I can make it up for your patience and your unbreakable loyalty to someone that had been made by my brain. Ikou Era is my first original project and it is one of the most proudest work I had done, this project was the result of my …

| Hey! Glad to see the game back on its feet! I was wondering if we could do it kind of like real life. People start a political party and state what they are fighting/aiming for/promising. That kind of stuff. It should also be based on power, how much money the person has, land he/she owns. Make it real hard work so we know whoever is desperate enough does the job right! | |

| I agree with Chris here. In the past method all we'd need is words to become Shogun, we just had to stand on a platform and tell the people why to choose us. As Chris already stated, it'd be great if people actually made their own political parties and held speeches of some sort, not only does it add more realism to the game, it also gives the people the feeling that they actually worked to become Shogun (If they do) and that they truly deserve it. Also, the debates were usually over in around ten to thirty minutes, and not everyone could vote nor know what the Shogun is planning and doing. The political parties would be active for multiple days and hold several speeches, therefore more people would witness this and more people could vote and actually know who and what the Shogun exactly is. | |

| This is where I go off in a completely different direction. If you say you want it like real life you have to research the Shogunates of old. In reality, they were not like the diplomatic rulers we have today, but rather they were Lords, given their power by the emperor of Japan. Which leads me to believe that the best way would be for an "Emperor" event character to select whom they deemed worthy of being nobility, as opposed to having it as a vote. This is Feudal Japan, voicing an opinion meant one thing, Death. | |

| That is indeed true. And now that you say it like that, how about we give the people a test to prove themselves? They'll need to be strong, wise and their decisions must be the right one.
I have no idea what kind of test this could possibly be yet.

| Agreed, and this is why I've always resented the "Shogun Elections" it seems idiotic for people to be voting on who becomes a noble..... It's not like anyone EVER gets to decide who their Monarch is. Do you think people in North Korea picked their Dictator? It seems so.... Stupid... | |

| So basically the test would be able to get sabotaged (As long as no one ICly finds out, he's clean.) and become a Shogun in that way, if this is found ICly, the player can expect an IC punishment of jail or even get killed. These tests must be quite challenging so that not just anyone can pass. It also should contain various objectives, requiring the player to RP and/or use his stats (Not sure about the stats part, this game is RP and should not be restricted by number but by fantasy.).
I had a test in mind, which would require some coding. The player enters a room and is told to place his ten 'soldiers'. See it like chess, but with no move restrictions and the pawns (soldiers in this case) could only hit people from the front. This is so that the players learn more about war-strategy.

| Well, I loved the idea of having campaigns and make it longer then just 1 day event. When the poster system is up and running, hopefully people will understand about that system. That is why I only wanted Edo, since we can have more campaigns and more people going for one thing. | |

Except the emperor held very little to no power during the Edo/Sengoku Jidai Period, and the shogunate had to claim relation to one family, the Minimato. Besides that, it is literally a military overlord.

| I just found out that Shogun were overthrown and instead of elections they had sons as their heirs....Even though wiki pisses me off it's pretty much right. It would be pretty cool if the Shogun was chosen and once he wants to get off the seat he chooses his heir.
Plus the emperor idea would be pretty cool....

| I know voting for a shogun isnt realistic to old japan but I think its worth a shot. Campaigns for the running of shogun gives the game abit of a new level of RP. RP that hasnt been on Byond yet. | |

| i was looking around and found this post, it looked interesting, shogun elections.... In my opinion the voting, speechign system is working in sort of a way actually the last time we where on ninjafros server, the anti headband gang had control over the elections, we did it on purpose so that the shogunate became what we expected, then it was just a fake ilussion used for killing him and eliminating the last enemy we had in common, letting the election pretty clear and convenient, a gang member was going to be chosen later, and this would actually give us benefits. as you can see theres many rp that can be developed if ever created a secret organization, for elections, it just need some creativity. | |
